CITY PROPERTY MARKETS – PROTECTION LEVEL 4 UPDATE
CITY PROPERTY MARKETS – PROTECTION LEVEL 4
As you will be aware over the last few months we have continued to monitor the advice issued by the Scottish Government and reopened a number of our markets with enhanced health and safety measures to protect our visitors, traders and staff.
On Monday 2 November, the First Minister set out a new 5-level tier system of specific measures which were rolled out across Scotland’s local authority areas. Originally placed in protection level 3, a further announcement was made on Tuesday 17 November which confirmed Glasgow City would move to the restrictions detailed in protection level 4 on Friday 20 November for a period of three weeks.
Although these restrictions involve the closure of non-essential retail, we can confirm that outdoor markets may continue to operate in Scotland. Glasgow’s markets play an important role in providing essential groceries for local communities across the city and we are delighted to be able to continue this support over the remaining 2020 scheduled dates for our Farmer & Retail Markets.
CLOSURE OF CAR BOOT SALE
In line with Scottish Government guidance, the car boot sale will now close until Glasgow City’s protection level is reduced. With a review of current measures scheduled in December, we hope further guidance will allow us to operate on Sunday 13 December. More information on the reopening of our car boot sale will be detailed on our website and social media.
